Botulinum
Botox®

„Botox®“ is a trade name in the narrow sense and is mostly used as a collective name for available botulinum toxin products in general.

Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by a specific bacterial strain, namely Clostridium botulinum. It has been discovered in the 19th century in association with spoiled meat and sausages, which led to food poisoning known as botulism.

Botulinum inhibits the signal transmission from nerve cells to muscle cells resulting in a selective weakening or deactivation of contractions, so in the mimic musculature.

Botulinum toxin has revolutionized wrinkle treatment and is the first choice for mimic wrinkles of the upper third of the face. The onset of action is not immediately post administration, but after 3-5 days with a maximum effect after 10-14 days. The desired effect can last up to 6 months in the best case. Botulinum toxin treatment is safe, quick and almost painless, since very thin needles are used. Another advantage of this treatment is the short “down time”. Cutique uses exclusively Merz products (Bocouture®, Xeomin®).
